GIFSQ Tools · Module 10 — Packaging & Shelf-Life · Tool 199 of 500
Score a packaging compliance checklist: items checked, items passed, the compliance rate and the verdict against your pass threshold.
Try sample values — fills the form with the worked example below.
–
Items failed
–
Compliance (%)
–
Margin over threshold (%)
Equation: Compliance (%) = items passed ÷ items in total × 100. Items failed = total − passed. Margin (%) = compliance − pass threshold. The checklist passes when compliance is at or above the threshold.
Method: Packaging compliance checklist scoring: each item is a requirement from the packaging specification, labelling rules or food-contact material rules, scored pass or fail.
Assumptions: every item is scored once, pass or fail; the threshold comes from the quality plan, not from this tool.
Limitations: a high score does not excuse a failed critical item — food-contact and safety items must pass individually, whatever the total says.
Rounding: compliance to 2 decimal places; counts are whole items; intermediates unrounded.
This is a calculation aid, not a laboratory report — confirm against your accredited method before citing a value.

Worked example: 20 checklist items, 18 passed, 90% threshold: compliance = 18 ÷ 20 × 100 = 90.00%; failed = 2 items; margin = 0.00% — a pass, exactly at the threshold.
Enter values above to see results.
Common threshold: 90% for a routine audit, 100% for food-contact safety items — always use the threshold in your quality plan. Tool 199 of 500 — GIFSQ
