Check a fibre claim — source, good source or high fibre — against the threshold for the jurisdiction.
Try sample values — fills the form with the worked example below.

Claim level

High-fibre threshold
–
Fibre per 100 kcal (g)
Equation: Fibre per 100 kcal = fibre per 100 g ÷ energy per 100 g × 100. Claim level: 0 = no claim, 1 = source / good source, 2 = high / excellent source.
Method: US FDA 21 CFR 101.54 — good source 10–19% of the 28 g Daily Value (2.5–4.9 g per serving), excellent source 20% or more (5 g or more). Canada FDR B.01.503 — source 2 g, high source 4 g per serving. EU Regulation 1924/2006 Annex — source 3 g per 100 g or 1.5 g per 100 kcal, high 6 g per 100 g or 3 g per 100 kcal. Australia/New Zealand (FSANZ) — source 2 g, good source 4 g per serving. India (FSSAI) — source 3 g, high 6 g per 100 g. Nepal and Mexico use the Codex values (3 g / 6 g per 100 g) in this tool. Thresholds are named per jurisdiction — never present one jurisdiction's rule as universal.
Assumptions: the fibre value is dietary fibre by an accepted method (AOAC 985.29 or equivalent); the serving is the declared serving.
Limitations: the US test uses % Daily Value per serving while the EU test uses per-100 g or per-100 kcal — the tool applies the test that matches the jurisdiction selected.
Rounding: fibre per 100 kcal to 1 decimal place; intermediates unrounded.
This is a calculation aid, not a laboratory report — confirm against your accredited method before citing a value.

Worked example: US, fibre 3 g per serving: good source (2.5–4.9 g), threshold for excellent 5 g, fibre per 100 kcal 3.8 g (7.5 g per 100 g at 200 kcal per 100 g).
Enter values above to see results.
Fibre claims need the fibre to be dietary fibre — added non-digestible carbohydrates count only where the jurisdiction accepts them. Tool 373 of 500 — GIFSQ
