Convert gas transmission rates between cc/m²/day, cc/100 in²/day, cc/m²/s and L/m²/day — the units film data sheets and ASTM reports use.

Try sample values — fills the form with the worked example below.

–
Converted rate
–
Conversion factor
–
In cc/m²/day
Equation: Converted value = value × (factor of the from-unit ÷ factor of the to-unit), with factors to cc/m²/day: cc/m²/day = 1; cc/100 in²/day = 15.50003; cc/m²/s = 86,400; L/m²/day = 1,000. 1 m² = 1,550.003 in², so 100 in² = 0.0645161 m².
Method: Unit conversion for gas transmission rates as reported under ASTM F1249 (water vapour) and ASTM D3985 (oxygen). The conversion is exact arithmetic on the stated units; it does not change the test conditions the value was measured at.
Assumptions: the input value is already a transmission rate in the stated unit; temperature, humidity and film thickness are unchanged by the conversion.
Limitations: converting units never makes values measured at different temperatures or humidities comparable; always compare the test conditions too.
Rounding: converted rate to 2 decimal places (4 for cc/m²/s); factor to 6 decimal places; intermediates unrounded.
This is a calculation aid, not a laboratory report — confirm against your accredited method before citing a value.
Worked example: 500 cc/m²/day = 500 × 0.0645161 = 32.26 cc/100 in²/day (factor 0.064516, canonical value 500.00 cc/m²/day).

Enter values above to see results.

Film data sheets quote cc/m²/day; North American suppliers often quote cc/100 in²/day — divide by 15.5 to go back. Tool 184 of 500 — GIFSQ
