Track frozen meat against its storage limit: enter the freezer temperature, how long the meat has been stored and the product storage limit to get the time left and a status.
Try sample values — fills the form with the worked example below.
Method: Frozen meat storage tracking against the product storage limit at −18 °C or colder, following CFIA and USDA FSIS frozen storage guidance: frozen meat keeps quality for a limited time even at −18 °C — beef about 9–12 months, pork about 4–6 months, poultry about 9–12 months — and the limit comes from the product specification, not from this tool.
Assumptions: the storage limit entered is the product specification limit at −18 °C or colder; the freezer temperature entered is the usual running temperature, not a single warm reading.
Limitations: the limit is a quality limit, not a safety limit — frozen meat held below −18 °C stays safe well past its quality limit, but flavour and texture fall away; a warm freezer shortens the real limit, and this tool only flags it, it does not recalculate it.
Rounding: remaining months and limit used to 2 decimal places; temperature as entered; intermediates unrounded.
This is a calculation aid, not a laboratory report — confirm against your accredited method before citing a value.
