Walk the Codex CCP decision tree (Questions 1–4) for one hazard at one process step and get the CCP verdict, the decision path and the step reached.

Try sample values — fills the form with the worked example below.

–
Is it a CCP?
–
Decision path
–
Tree step reached
Equation: Codex decision tree: Q1 No → not a CCP (modify step/process/product). Q1 Yes and Q2 Yes → CCP. Q2 No and Q3 No → not a CCP. Q3 Yes and Q4 Yes → not a CCP (a later step controls it). Q3 Yes and Q4 No → CCP.
Method: CCP determination per Codex CAC/RCP 1-1969 (Rev. 2020), Annex, Figure 2 — the CCP decision tree, applied at HACCP Principle 2. ISO 22000:2018 clause 8.5.4.1 uses the same determination logic for CCPs versus operational PRPs.
Assumptions: the answers describe this hazard at this step only; the same step can be a CCP for one hazard and not for another.
Limitations: the tree is a guide, not a substitute for judgement — a hazard the team scores as significant can still need a CCP even when the tree says no, and the team must record its reasoning.
Rounding: the verdict is a yes/no decision; no rounding applies.
This is a calculation aid, not a laboratory report — confirm against your accredited method before citing a value.
Worked example: Control measures exist (Q1 Yes) and the step is designed to eliminate the hazard (Q2 Yes): CCP, path Q1-Yes-Q2-Yes, tree step 2.

Enter values above to see results.

Answer the questions in order — Q2 only matters when Q1 is Yes, and Q4 only matters when Q3 is Yes. Tool 243 of 500 — GIFSQ
