Plan how many batches a production run needs: enter the target output, the batch size your equipment handles, and the expected yield — the tool works out the number of batches, the raw material to weigh out, and the size of the final part-batch.
Try sample values — fills the form with the worked example below.
Method: Batch sizing from the production order quantity and the vessel or mixer capacity, with the yield loss (evaporation, trim, line loss) added back so the finished output still meets the target. The final batch is a part-batch whenever the target is not an exact multiple of the batch size.
Assumptions: the yield is the same for every batch; every batch is filled to the stated batch size except the last; the target is finished output, not raw material in.
Limitations: yield varies batch to batch in practice — treat the raw-material figure as a plan, not a guarantee; changeovers, cleaning and hold time are not included.
Rounding: batches as a whole number (rounded up); raw material and final batch to 2 decimal places; intermediates unrounded.
This is a calculation aid, not a laboratory report — confirm against your accredited method before citing a value.
Enter values above to see results.
If the final batch is very small, consider rounding the order up to a whole number of batches instead of running a tiny part-batch. Tool 341 of 500 — GIFSQ
