Analyst Training Matrix

Interactive Tool Free Resource

GIFSQ Tools · Module 14 — LIMS & Quality · Tool 279 of 500

Summarise analyst competence: the share of analysts trained, the share of required method assessments passed, and the gaps left to close.

Try sample values — fills the form with the worked example below.

–
Analyst coverage (%)
–
Competency (%)
–
Analysts still to train
–
Assessments still to pass
Equation: Analyst coverage (%) = analysts trained ÷ total analysts × 100. Competency (%) = assessments passed ÷ assessments required × 100. Analyst gap = total analysts − analysts trained. Assessment gap = assessments required − assessments passed.
Method: Training matrix per ISO/IEC 17025:2017, clause 6.2 (personnel): the laboratory keeps a record of who is trained and assessed for each method, and only trained and assessed analysts carry out the work.
Assumptions: an analyst counts as trained once the training and the assessment for their methods are both complete.
Limitations: coverage is a headcount — it does not show whether the right analysts are trained for the methods the next batch needs.
Rounding: percentages to 2 decimal places; gaps are whole numbers; intermediates unrounded.
This is a calculation aid, not a laboratory report — confirm against your accredited method before citing a value. Records are kept only in this browser on this device (localStorage); this is a device-only record aid, not a shared multi-user LIMS, and nothing is sent to any server.
Worked example: 8 of 10 analysts trained, 45 of 50 assessments passed: coverage 80.00%, competency 90.00%, gaps of 2 analysts and 5 assessments.

Only analysts who are trained and assessed for a method may be assigned to it — check the matrix before rostering (Tool 265). Tool 279 of 500 — GIFSQ
