A c-store is a convenience store — a small retail outlet built around speed and proximity rather than range. It stocks a tight assortment of everyday foods and drinks: snacks, soft drinks, dairy, bread, confectionery, ready meals, and often hot coffee or hot-held food, plus household basics and tobacco. The format trades on long opening hours, often round the clock, and locations on high streets, near transport hubs, and at petrol stations, so shoppers pay a premium for the convenience. For the food industry the channel matters out of proportion to its size: it is the main battleground for impulse purchase, single-serve packaging, and grab-and-go innovation. Chilled cabinets, food-to-go fixtures, and rapid stock turnover make the c-store a demanding but high-margin route to the consumer.
