Milk obtained from yaks, and drunk predominantly in Tibet, but also in Mongolia and India. Pink in colour. In Tibet, it is processed into 3 products: crispy oil (butter oil produced by separation of milk and used in cooking and making butter tea); sour milk made from whole milk or the skim milk remaining after removal of crispy oil; and milk solids residue resulting from boiling skim milk (made into yak milk cheese).
