A squeezer is a hand tool or small device used to press juice from fruit, most often citrus such as lemons, limes, and oranges. Designs range from the simple reamer cone, over which a halved fruit is pressed and twisted, to hinged lever presses that squeeze the half fruit between two cups, and electric reamers that spin the cone for the user. The goal is to extract the maximum juice while holding back pips and large pieces of pulp. Fresh-squeezed juice is prized in kitchens and bars because it tastes brighter than bottled juice and contains no added preservatives. Good technique matters: room-temperature fruit yields noticeably more juice than fruit straight from the refrigerator.
