Common name for Undaria pinnatifida, a member of the brown (Phaeophyta) group of seaweeds. Rich source of dietary fibre. Extracts possess antitumour activity and antimutagenicity. Used in production of soups, edible starch gels (mook or muk) and jams, and as an ingredient of foods including cakes and kimchies.
