A product launch is the coordinated introduction of a new food product to the market, the culmination of months or years of development. It orchestrates manufacturing scale-up, distribution into retail or food service, pricing and promotion, packaging and labelling compliance, and often media and sampling campaigns, all timed to hit shelves together. Launches are high-stakes gambles: most new food products fail within two years, done in by weak differentiation, poor taste, wrong pricing, or inadequate distribution. Success factors are well studied: genuine consumer insight, products that taste excellent, distinctive positioning, and launch plans with enough marketing weight to gain trial and repeat purchase. The launch is also a food safety moment, with first production runs scrutinised and traceability systems tested under real conditions before volumes grow.
