Eupepsia is the state of having a healthy or normal digestive system — good digestion as a named condition. Where dyspepsia catalogues the miseries of indigestion, eupepsia names their absence: comfortable, effective digestion, the stomach and intestines doing their work without pain, bloating, or complaint. The word is rarely used clinically — medicine names diseases, not health — but it has its place in the precise vocabulary of digestive function, completing the eu-/dys- pair that runs through medical Greek. Philosophically it points at something nutrition often forgets: the goal is not the absence of named disease but the presence of untroubled function. Eupepsia is digestion unnoticed — the quiet, competent background against which appetite, eating, and nourishment happen as they should.
