Cappuccino is an Italian coffee drink made with espresso topped with steamed milk and a deep cap of frothed milk, traditionally in roughly equal thirds, dusted with cocoa or cinnamon. The name is said to echo the brown hoods of Capuchin monks. Properly made, the foam should be velvety microfoam rather than dry bubbles, and the espresso base gives a stronger coffee flavour than a latte. A standard serving contains the caffeine of its espresso shots plus the protein and calcium of milk. It is a morning drink in Italy, rarely ordered after meals, though international cafés serve it all day.
