FIPDes is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master dedicated to food innovation and product design: how new food products are conceived, prototyped, packaged and brought to the people who eat them. The two-year programme (120 ECTS) is delivered by a consortium of AgroParisTech (France), TU Dublin (Ireland), the University of Naples Federico II (Italy) and Lund University (Sweden), and students study, live and gain experience across these countries. The consortium recruits up to 30 well-motivated students from all over the world for each intake, and selection is highly competitive.
Who can apply: graduates holding a BSc degree or equivalent (180 ECTS) in food science and technology, biotechnology, process engineering, biochemistry, nutrition or a related food field. English proficiency at B2 level or above must be demonstrated, for example TOEFL iBT 90 or IELTS (Academic) 6.5, Cambridge FCE/CAE/CPE certificates, or a certificate that English was the medium of instruction of your degree (exemptions may exceptionally be made for outstanding students).
Scholarships: Erasmus Mundus scholarships will be available again for four cohorts starting with the 2027–2029 intake (there were no Erasmus Mundus scholarships for the 2025–2027 and 2026–2028 intakes). The scholarship application is made inside the regular programme application in the online tool, and a student can benefit from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship only once.
How to apply: apply through the consortium’s online application tool, selecting “FIPDes” in the drop-down menu after verifying your email address. Upload the completed application form, a scan of your passport, your CV (European format if possible), a motivation letter addressed to the FIPDes Consortium (usually 1–2 pages), your BSc certificate and transcripts for each year (official, signed and stamped, with translations where needed), two reference letters (uploaded directly by your referees through the tool), proof of English proficiency and proof of your place of residence (not older than 12 months). Incomplete applications are not taken into consideration, and no documents may be sent by post or email at this stage; remember to validate your application in the final step of the tool so it is formally submitted.
