FAO eLearning Academy - Free Online Courses in Food Safety, Food Security and Agriculture with Digital Badges
The FAO eLearning Academy is the Food and Agriculture Organization’s open online learning platform. It offers over 350 multilingual courses free of charge, developed with FAO’s technical divisions and more than 200 partners, and open to anyone: professionals, students, officials and producers.
Course areas include food safety, food and nutrition security analysis and foundations, Codex and food control topics, nutrition, food loss and waste, climate change and climate-smart agriculture, animal production and health, crop improvement, agricultural statistics, markets and investment, the right to food, social protection and resilience, and gender. Individual courses range from about 30 minutes to several hours and are self-paced, so learners can start at any time; enrolment is ongoing with no application deadline.
Certification: many courses end with a final assessment, and successful learners earn digital badges, which FAO describes as an international, evidence-based certification of competencies that is relevant when applying for jobs, including with FAO.
How to join: create a free account on the Academy site, browse the course catalogue, and enrol in the courses you want. GIFSQ readers most often start with the food safety and food security course series.
