Trifluralin
A selective dinitroaniline herbicide applied before weed emergence against annual grasses and broad-leaved weeds around vegetables, fruits, oilseeds, sugar beets, and sugar cane, sometimes combined with linuron for winter cereals. Trifluralin disrupts microtubule formation in germinating weeds and needs soil incorporation to survive photodegradation. The US EPA places it in the lowest acute-toxicity category (Class IV). Residue compliance rests on label rates and maximum residue limits, while its soil persistence demands rotation planning so carryover does not damage sensitive follow crops.
