Shrikhand
Shrikhand is a fermented milk product usually prepared from buffalo milk and popular in India, also called srikand or srikhand. In the traditional method, milk is cultured with a mixed starter of Streptococcus lactis strains, and the whey is drained from the set curd to produce chakka. Other ingredients, such as sugar, colourants, and flavourings, often saffron or cardamom, are then added to the chakka. The result is a thick, creamy, sweet dessert, served chilled, often garnished with nuts. Other ingredients, such as sugar, colourants, and flavourings, often saffron or cardamom, are added to the chakka.
