Satiety
Satiety is the state in which the desire or motivation to eat no longer exists because the need has been satisfied; in the food sense it relates to the physiological sensation of fullness after a meal. Satiety can be sensory-specific, for example texture- and flavour-specific, which may significantly contribute to overall satiety. Food designers study satiety to create products that satisfy with appropriate portions, since protein, fibre, and food structure all influence how full we feel. Designing foods that satisfy appropriately is a quiet but powerful public-health tool.
