Saran

Saran is a class of thermoplastic resins that are polymers of vinylidene chloride, formed into clear films, known as cling film, that resist oils and chemicals for food wrapping. First a US trademark, it is also known as saran wrap. The films cling tightly and give an excellent barrier to moisture and odours, keeping foods fresh. Modern food wraps include alternatives, but saran-type films set the standard for cling performance. Its performance set the benchmark that newer sustainable films aim to match.
