Morwong
Morwong is the common name for any of a number of marine fish species in the family Cheilodactylidae, widely distributed in the Pacific and Indian Oceans and parts of the Atlantic Ocean. Commercially important species include Nemadactylus macropterus, N. douglasi the grey morwong, and Cheilodactylus spectabilis the banded morwong. They are marketed fresh, usually whole, gutted, or as fillets, and sometimes sold as frozen fillets or in ready-to-cook packs. Like other wild-caught finfish, they are subject to quota management, cold-chain discipline from vessel to market, and monitoring for histamine, heavy metals, and other seafood safety hazards.
