Moose
Moose are large ruminant animals of the deer family Cervidae, hunted for their meat across northern North America, Scandinavia, and Russia. They often feed in wetlands and marginal wasteland environments, which may be contaminated with pollutants such as heavy metals, so game-meat safety guidance stresses rapid field cooling, clean evisceration, and attention to local advisories on chronic wasting disease and environmental contaminants. Their lean, dark red meat is prized by hunters and rural communities and is typically stewed, roasted, or ground. Because wild game falls outside routine slaughter inspection, hunters bear full responsibility for hygienic handling from field to freezer.
