Lebaycid
Lebaycid is an alternative trade name for fenthion (O,O-dimethyl O-[3-methyl-4-(methylthio)phenyl] phosphorothioate), an organophosphate insecticide once widely used on fruit, olives, vines and livestock against fruit flies, aphids and ectoparasites. A cholinesterase inhibitor toxic to humans, birds and aquatic life, its residues on food crops are controlled by maximum residue limits (MRLs) and pre-harvest intervals. Many countries have restricted or withdrawn fenthion over toxicity and environmental concerns (the EU non-renewed it), and monitoring programmes check produce for remaining permitted uses; applicators require training and protective equipment.
