Imidan
An alternative term for the insecticide phosmet — an organophosphate used against a range of orchard, vine, and field-crop pests. Like other organophosphates it acts on the insect nervous system by inhibiting cholinesterase, and the same chemistry demands careful handling to protect operators. Residues in food are controlled through maximum residue limits and mandatory intervals between spraying and harvest, and its use is subject to registration and label directions in each jurisdiction. Operator protection — protective equipment and re-entry intervals — is part of its registered conditions of use.
