Drums
Drums are cylindrical containers used for the storage and transportation of liquids and semi-solids, from food-grade steel or plastic drums holding oils, syrups, juices, and ingredients to fibre drums for powders. In food logistics they must be made of approved food-contact materials, be clean and free from previous chemical residues, and be properly sealed and labelled to ensure traceability. Standard sizes such as 200-litre drums suit bulk ingredient handling, while their stackability and compatibility with pallet systems streamline warehousing. Reuse of drums demands rigorous cleaning and inspection, since residual contaminants from prior contents are a recognized food safety hazard.
