Cotton candy
Cotton candy, called candy floss in the United Kingdom, is a fluffy mass of spun sugar formed by melting granulated sugar and flinging it through tiny holes in a rapidly spinning head, where it solidifies into fine threads that are gathered on a stick. The result is an airy confection that dissolves instantly on the tongue, often tinted pink or blue and lightly flavoured. From a food-safety view, the high-temperature spinning kills vegetative microbes, but the open, manual serving style demands clean equipment and hygienic handling to avoid contamination.
