Consumer acceptability
Consumer acceptability is the degree to which consumers find a product satisfactory and are willing to buy and eat it. It integrates sensory liking, price, convenience, brand trust, and cultural fit into the ultimate commercial verdict. Food companies measure it with hedonic testing, home-use trials, and market performance, since a technically excellent product that consumers reject is a failure. Understanding the drivers of acceptability, from flavour to packaging to values alignment, is the central task of food product development. No product succeeds without it, which is why acceptability testing comes before every major launch.
