Infant foods
Foods formulated to meet infants’ nutritional needs, like infant formulas and weaning foods. In industrialized countries, processed infant foods come in a wide range: cereal dishes, rusks and pureed ready meals, fruit drinks and snack products. Manufacturers typically fortify these foods with minerals and vitamins, and design them low in sugar and salt. Because they feed a vulnerable population, their manufacture faces exceptionally strict hygiene and composition rules, covering everything from raw-material selection to microbiological criteria for the finished product, and their labels must carry precise preparation instructions.
