Cold Holding Temperature Log (Free)
Log – Cold Holding Temperatures
Nobody remembers what the chiller was reading at 2pm last Tuesday – unless it’s written down. This log is that memory, and it’s the first thing anyone asks for when chilled food is questioned.
Instructions: Record temperatures at the defined frequency (e.g., twice daily plus display checks). Use a calibrated thermometer; check the warmest point sensibly. If a reading is out of range, act immediately – move stock, note the time, tell the supervisor – then record what you did. Never back-fill the log later.
Record details
- Week of: [YYYY-MM-DD]

- Checked by: [Name]
Acceptance criteria
Anything outside these criteria is a deviation – act, record, and tell QA.
- Chillers <=5 °C
- Freezers ≤-18 °C
- Cold displays <=5 °C

Notes and corrective action
In our experience, most cold-chain failures are door seals, overloading, or a unit nobody reported as ‘sounding funny’. If a unit keeps drifting, log a maintenance request – don’t just keep writing down the same bad number.
- [Describe any deviation, action taken, and product disposition.]
