Trichlorfon
A non-systemic organophosphorus insecticide used against a broad range of insect pests on crops and on stored fruits, vegetables, and cereals, with additional uses in animal husbandry. Trichlorfon — also known as chlorophos — hydrolyses quickly in plants and breaks down rapidly in soil, giving it a relatively favourable environmental profile among organophosphates. The WHO classes it as moderately hazardous (Class II). Applications span crop protection and veterinary ectoparasite control, governed by applicator-safety rules, pre-harvest intervals, and maximum residue limits with residue monitoring of treated commodities.
