Transparency
The optical property of materials that let light pass through so objects behind them appear sharp and clear — the clarity of glass-like substances. In food packaging, transparency lets shoppers inspect the product, building purchase confidence; in beverages, brilliant clarity signals careful filtration and stability, whereas haze hints at protein–polyphenol complexes or microbial growth. Packaging engineers trade transparency against light protection, since clear films display foods but admit the UV that oxidizes fats and bleaches colours. Instrumental haze and clarity measurements standardize what the eye judges, keeping marketing appeal and product protection both in specification.
