Tangerines
Tangerines are small, loose-skinned citrus fruits (Citrus reticulata), a relatively good source of vitamin C. This species also includes mandarins and satsumas, names tending to be used indiscriminately in different markets. Tangerines tend to be darker in colour than mandarins, with a rich orange-red peel and a sweet-tart flavour. Their easy-peeling skins make them ideal lunchbox and snack fruits. They are eaten fresh, juiced, and canned in segments, and careful postharvest handling prevents the rind disorders and decay to which they are prone.
