Sunflower seeds
Sunflower seeds are the seeds produced by sunflowers (Helianthus annuus), rich in vitamin B1, proteins, iron, and niacin, with a high content of vitamin E and healthy unsaturated fats. They are eaten dried and roasted as snacks, added to bakery products as toppings and inclusions, or crushed for sunflower oil. Their thin hulls are removed for kernel products, and they must be stored dry to prevent rancidity and mould growth, since their oil richness makes them vulnerable to both. They are among the world’s most popular oilseeds and snack seeds.
