Marine crabs of the genus Chionoecetes that occur in cool waters of the north Pacific and northeast Atlantic oceans. The most important species commercially is C. opilio (Atlantic snow crabs). Only male crabs have commercial value. Marketed in a variety of forms, including fresh cooked whole crab, cooked leg meat, canned meat and pastes.
