Simazine
Simazine is a systemic herbicide that selectively controls most germinating annual grasses and broadleaved weeds in various crops, and is also used as an algicide. The US Environmental Protection Agency classifies it as not acutely toxic (Toxicity Category IV); it is also known as Gesatop. As with all pesticides, residues on food crops must stay within legal limits. Monitoring programmes check compliance, and water monitoring tracks its environmental fate.
