Pricing
Setting the price a food product will carry, the calculation that balances everything spent against everything earned. Managers weigh raw-material and manufacturing costs, packaging, logistics, and retail margins, then test those numbers against shopper willingness to pay and rival offerings. Common tactics include cost-plus formulas, premium pricing for health or artisan claims, promotional discounting to drive trial, and psychological price points. Because food margins are thin and input costs volatile, pricing is revisited often, and it must always cover regulatory costs such as labeling and safety testing.
