Piscicides

Chemical substances formulated to kill unwanted or invasive fish species, typically non-native fish that have been introduced into lakes or river systems and threaten local ecology or aquaculture. They are rarely used in practice because they tend to harm many organisms beyond the target species, disrupting entire aquatic communities. The classic examples are antimycin and rotenone, both potent aquatic toxicants. Any use near food production demands strict controls: treated waters must be isolated, and fish from treated areas must not enter the food chain until toxic residues have degraded to safe levels, with monitoring confirming that the water is safe again.
