Phosmet

Phosmet is a non-systemic insecticide and acaricide that kills mainly on contact, targeting biting, sucking, and chewing insects across fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Stored-product managers also use it against weevils attacking sweet potatoes, and veterinarians apply it against external parasites of livestock. Sold under names including Imidan, it carries a World Health Organization moderately hazardous rating. In crop protection, observing labeled rates and pre-harvest intervals keeps residues within legal maximum limits, verified by monitoring programs. Phosmet’s versatility across field, storage, and animal uses makes it a workhorse chemical where its toxicity profile is carefully managed.
