Phosalone
Phosalone is a non-systemic insecticide and acaricide used primarily for controlling insects on pome fruits and stone fruits, and also applied to grapes, rapeseeds, potatoes, and vegetables. It acts on contact and ingestion against a range of pests. The World Health Organization classifies it as moderately toxic. In food safety, phosalone exemplifies crop-protection chemicals whose residues must remain within maximum residue limits on harvested produce. Growers observe approved dosages and pre-harvest intervals so that residues decline to acceptable levels before picking. Residue monitoring programs test fruits and vegetables for phosalone and similar compounds, supporting consumer protection and compliance with pesticide regulations in domestic and export markets.
