Muffins
The term muffins has two distinct meanings. American muffins are small round cakes leavened with yeasts or baking powders and sweetened with sugar, plain or flavoured with fruits, nuts, or savoury ingredients such as cheese, often eaten at breakfast or as a dinner accompaniment. English muffins are thick, round yeast-leavened bread products, rapidly fermented and well aerated, baked on a hot plate or griddle, then split and toasted, sometimes with sweet or savoury fillings such as jams, bacon, or cheese.
