Mills
Mills are machinery for grinding solid substances, or the buildings equipped with such machinery, including the equipment used for grinding grain into flour. In food processing the term most often means grain mills, where roller mills or stones break wheat, corn, or rice into flour, meal, or grits, followed by sifting, aspiration, and blending to produce consistent products. Modern mills are highly automated, with plansifters, purifiers, and online sensors controlling extraction and quality. Safe operation requires dust control and explosion prevention, stored-product pest management, metal detection, and regular testing of incoming grain for mycotoxins and foreign material.
