Lorries
Lorries are large motor vehicles for transporting heavy loads — known as trucks, especially in Canada and the USA — used to carry live animals to slaughterhouses, cereals and raw materials to processing plants, and finished foods to retailers and distribution centres. Food transport demands clean, well-maintained, temperature-controlled vehicles: refrigerated lorries (reefers) hold chilled and frozen chains unbroken, with calibrated temperature monitoring and records. Hygiene rules require clean, pest-free load spaces, separation of incompatible loads (raw meats from ready-to-eat, allergens, non-foods), and trained drivers — transport is a critical link in food safety.
