Imazalil
A systemic fungicide which inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis in susceptible fungi. Growers use it against a wide range of fungal diseases of fruits and vegetables — it stays effective against benzimidazole-resistant strains — and as a seed dressing protecting cereals from fungal disease. It is classified by the WHO as moderately toxic (WHO class II). Residues on treated produce are strictly regulated, with maximum residue limits and pre-harvest intervals protecting consumers, and post-harvest applications on citrus fruits are among its most familiar commercial uses.
