Hygrometers
Devices that measure atmospheric humidity. Food plants use them in ripening rooms, dry stores, bakeries, and packaging areas, where humidity directly affects product quality and safety — too much invites mould, too little dries products out. Reliable hygrometry underpins the environmental control on which consistent food quality depends. Regular calibration against reference standards keeps readings trustworthy, since decisions about ventilation, humidification, and storage conditions all rest on these measurements. Both mechanical and electronic types are used, with electronic sensors now dominant for continuous monitoring and data logging in plants.
