Cycocel
Cycocel is another name for chlormequat, a plant growth regulator sold as chlormequat chloride that shortens cereal stems to stop lodging and ease harvest. Sprayed on wheat, barley and oats, it keeps crops standing through wind and rain. The WHO rates it slightly toxic (Class III). Maximum residue limits apply to grain, and monitoring programmes verify that treated cereals comply, with spray timing and dose managed to hold residues well beneath legal thresholds. Treated grain must still meet maximum residue limits, and buyers test for compliance as part of routine intake quality checks.
