Coconut water
Coconut water is the clear, watery liquid enclosed within the kernel cavity of coconuts (Cocos nucifera) — not to be confused with coconut milk, which is pressed from the flesh. Naturally sterile inside the intact nut, it is lightly sweet, mineral-rich, and hugely popular as a tropical beverage, now sold globally in cartons and cans. Processors protect its delicate flavour with minimal heat treatment or high-pressure processing, since aggressive pasteurization dulls it. Once the nut is opened, the water must be chilled and consumed quickly, as microbes find it as refreshing as people do.
