Cockroaches
Cockroaches are the flat-bodied, long-antennaed orthopteran insects of the family Blattidae, and they are among the most unwelcome visitors a food business can have. They infest dwellings and food factories alike, feeding on stored foods and ferrying pathogens across surfaces on their bodies and droppings. Their presence signals failed proofing and sanitation — gaps under doors, warm harbourages, accumulated debris. Control is integrated: exclusion, rigorous cleaning, monitoring with traps, and targeted insecticide use. Auditors treat a single sighting as a serious nonconformance, because where one roach walks, contamination follows.
