Cleaning agents
Cleaning agents are the chemical workhorses of the cleaning process, from alkaline detergents that saponify fats to acids that dissolve mineral scale, plus disinfectants that kill microbes on the already-cleaned surface. Selecting them is a science: the agent must match the soil, suit the surface, rinse freely, and leave no taint or toxic residue. Food plants rotate chemistries to prevent resistance, dose them precisely through automated systems, and verify their removal. Used correctly they are invisible guardians; misused, they become contaminants themselves.
