Amoxycillin
An older variant spelling of amoxicillin, the aminopenicillin antibiotic used widely in human and veterinary medicine. The spelling survives in some national pharmacopoeias and older formularies but denotes the identical molecule with the same antibacterial spectrum. In food-animal practice the name on the label changes nothing: the same withdrawal periods before slaughter, the same milk discard times, and the same maximum residue limits in edible tissues apply regardless of spelling. Analysts and regulators treat the two spellings as fully interchangeable when checking prescriptions, residue records and surveillance results.
