Strainers
Strainers are utensils for separating unwanted solids from liquids, semi-liquids, or dry ingredients. They have perforated or mesh bases and usually come in stainless steel, plastic, or aluminium, in many sizes, shapes, and mesh densities — for jobs from sieving flour and straining stocks to rinsing grains. In plants, the equivalent duty falls to vibrating screens, sieves, and filters, with mesh size matched to the separation needed. Clean, intact strainers are a simple but real food-safety control, catching foreign material before it reaches the consumer.
